We completed this project for a repeat residential customer (have known the owners for years). Our customer was remodeling their townhouse and the electrical panel needed to be relocated to keep the project compliant with electrical code.
The electrical panel was located outside of the home on a wall where they planned to install a window. Our team relocated the electrical panel to the inside of the home. This was the proper fix, and our customer agreed.
This particular townhome had an electrical disconnect outside the house. So, we kept it outside per electrical code. It was an outdoor rated disconnect. We redirected all circuit wiring from outside back into the house.
Then, we removed the old panel and installed a new style panel inside the house. Next, we properly sized all circuits and grounded the house properly per code. We ran through the old disconnect to ensure proper functionality. The disconnect was in good working condition.
We added a ground to the disconnect per code and moved some miscellaneous wiring within the window wall but nothing major. We also ran wiring for a hardwired combo/monoxide detector per code.
